MEET & GREET TERMS AND CONDITIONS
These Terms and Conditions apply to all visitors participating in a Meet & Greet experience at Wingspan National Bird of Prey Centre (“Wingspan”, “we”, “us” or “our”). By purchasing admission, making a booking or entering the Wingspan premises, you agree to comply with these Terms and Conditions, and the General Terms and Conditions, together with any reasonable instructions, safety requirements and signage provided by Wingspan. Nothing in these Terms and Conditions limits or excludes any rights or remedies that visitors have or duties or liabilities Wingspan has under New Zealand law.
1. TICKETS:
a. Tickets cover entry to the Meet & Greet selected at the time of booking and the Flight of the Falcon show on the date specified on the ticket.
b. The Meet & Greet has an approximate duration of 30 minutes. However, Wingspan reserves the right to finish a Meet & Greet early due to bird, staff or visitor welfare considerations.
2. MINIMUM AGE:
The minimum age for participation in the Falcon Meet & Greet is 5 years. The minimum age for participation in the Ruru and Barn Owl Meet & Greets is 12 years. These age requirements apply to all participants and are in place to ensure the safety and welfare of both visitors and birds. Children must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult (16 years or over).
3. EXPERIENCE DETAILS:
The format of Meet & Greets may vary from one session to another. Experiences involve live animals and are therefore not scripted or guaranteed to follow a set format. The birds, behaviours, and messaging included may vary depending on bird welfare, behaviour, health and other operational considerations.
4. VISITOR CONDUCT:
a. Visitors must follow all instructions given by Wingspan staff and comply with all signage and safety requirements.
b. Visitors must not touch, feed, harass, or otherwise interfere with any of the birds, unless specifically instructed or permitted by a Wingspan staff member.
c. Visitors must not attempt to attract or interact with birds by calling, whistling, waving objects or otherwise deliberately distracting them.
d. Wingspan reserves the right to ask anyone engaging in unacceptable behaviour to leave the Meet & Greet without refund.
5. BIRD BEHAVIOUR & WELFARE:
a. Tickets do not guarantee the opportunity for close encounters with the birds. The birds are trained to participate in the experience but remain animals with their own instincts and autonomy, and their behaviour and responses may vary. Visitors acknowledge that birds may choose not to perform a particular behaviour or may respond differently from what is anticipated.
b. The welfare of our birds is our highest priority. We reserve the right to alter, limit or cancel any experience where we consider it necessary to protect the welfare of a bird.
6. WEATHER, CANCELLATION & REFUNDS:
a. Meet & Greets are non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another date. This policy reflects the limited availability of sessions and the resources allocated to each booking.
b. Meet & Greets are conducted under cover and are not impacted by adverse weather conditions. No refunds will be given in the event of adverse weather conditions, including where conditions impact the delivery of an outdoor Flight of the Falcon show.
c. No refunds will be provided where visitors arrive late, leave before the conclusion of the Meet & Greet, or do not attend.
d. No refunds will be provided where bird behaviour is different to what is anticipated.
e. In exceptional circumstances, Wingspan may, at its discretion, approve a refund. Where a refund is approved, a $25 administration fee will be applied.
